The reigning Italian Rally Champion got the leading position after SS 2 (first stage of today) and maintained it until this evening, under the attacks of Elwis Chentre. Then, the factory Peugeot crew Andreucci-Andreussi took the leadership of the breaking of an axle shaft for Chentre. At the end of the first Leg, 2 nd and 3 rd positions are occupied by Rossetti-Chiarcossi (Abarth) and Travaglia-Granai (Skoda).
Brescia After SS1 (run last night in Castrezzato Circuit) 6 stages raced today, Paolo Andreucci and Anna Andreussi are provisionally leading the 35° Rally 1000 Miglia with their factory Peugeot 207 S2000.
Today has been a bubbly Day 1, which has seen the Peugeot factory crew conquering the top position of the provisional Classification (yesterday after SSS1 the leading was handled by L. Rossetti).
Then, Andreucci has been immediately attacked by Elwis Chentre (also on a Peugeot 207 S2000) of the local team Vieffecorse, who was going to threaten the Italian Rally Champion in charge. As far as SS4, the Aostan driver reduced his gap from the leader up to +11; then in Acquebone-2 (SS5, straight after Service B) Chentre broke his anterior right axle shaft and went out from the Top 10 Overall.
From this moment, Paolo Andreucci has had less troubles in preserving the leading position and after SS6 Colle S. Zeno-2 the 2 nd place got to Luca Rossetti, co-driven by Matteo Chiarcossi, on his factory Abarth Grande Punto S2000 (nevertheless he spun round in SS3 Colle S. Zeno 1).
The 3 rd position got to Renato Travaglia and Lorenzo Granai on Skoda Fabia S2000; above all, they tried to feel the car because theyre going to use it to participate to ERC 2011. The 4 th place at the end of Day 1 is handled by Gianfranco Cunico (Peugeot 207 S2000), who still holds the maximum number (six) of victories in 1000 Miglia, while 5 th position is for Alessandro Perico who fought against the stability of his Peugeot 207 S2000 all day long. 6 th and 7 th positions respectively got to Umberto Scandola (Ford Fiesta S2000) and Luca Betti (Peugeot 207 S2000).
Leader of 2WD and the Junior (under 28) classment is the factory Citroen DS3R3 of Team Italia of the young Andrea Crugnola, 8 th overall, in front the second Citroens driver Simone Campedelli.
Leader of Production is Maurizio Angrisani, despite of a puncture during SS6, followed by Massimiliano Rendina (both on Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X). Fabio Gianfico stopped his race today for mechanical troubles to his Evo IX.
Day 2 (tomorrow from 7.45am) schedules 7 stages: Cavallino (SS8 and 12), Moerna (SS9 and 13), Pertiche (SS10 and 14) and the shortest SS11 Colle S. Eusebio (less than 2 km). This last one will be broadcasted live by RAI Sport 2 from 1.30pm. Later, from 6.35pm, the concurrent crews will arrive to the Podium (situated in Brescia Piazza della Vittoria) for the prize-giving ceremony.
