Other legendary names add up to those of Jari Matti Latvala, at the wheel of the Volkswagen Polo R Wrc, the world rally champion car 2014, of Juha Kankkunen and of Armin Schwarz. The Antigua Legend Cup is back.
The names adding up to the existing list of champions are really legendary: these will be present in San Marino at the 12th Rallylegend, on stage in the Republic of San Marino next 9th-12th October.
Stig Blomqvist will be at the start of the San Marino event, where he will celebrate the 30th anniversary of his world rally title, the one he conquered in 1984 with the Audi Quattro A2, driving the very same car on the Special Stages of San Marino. Celebrations that will be on together with those for the second World Constructors Title for Volkswagen, passionate Rallylegend main sponsor. Didier Auriol will be back to San Marino, the world champion of 1994 and the winner of the Wrc Trophy last year, on the Citroen Xsara Wrc of the D-Max Racing team and with all the intentions to have fun and to entertain the audience. Always much awaited is the Finnish champion Markku Alen who is both spectacular at the wheel and one of the most beloved drivers for his jokes. Alen, with the faithful Ilkka Kivimaki, will try to win again, like in 2013, with the Lancia 037. Another important presence will be that of Luis Moya, who will not be co-driving Carlos Sainz, but will be seated next to Bernhard Ostmann, on the Volkswagen Golf Gti group 2 of the Sports Museum of the German House.
Italian champions will be represented at the start of Rallylegend 2014 by the recent new European champion of historical cars “Lucky” Battistolli who confirmed he will be rallying on the wonderful Ferrari 308 Gtb, and by “Bobo” Cambiaghi, rally Italian champion in 1975 with the Fiat 124 Abarth, and who will be at the start on a Porsche 911, together with the journalist co-driver Emanuele Sanfront, with whom he won the national title at the time.
These great names add up to the already announced names of Juha Kankkunen, Armin Schwarz and of the luxury forerunner Jari-Matti Latvala, at the wheel of the Volkswagen Polo R Wrc.
HANS THORSZELIUS WILL BE AT RALLYLEGEND TO REMEMBER BJIORN WALDEGAARD
He immediately accepted Vito Piarulli and Paolo Valli's invitation. Hans Thorszelius was the co-driver who shared eleven years of career with Bjiorn Waldegaard, the world rally champion of 1979, who recently passed away. And no one better than Thorszelius can tell to the audience who the Swedish ace really was. Rallylegend wants to remember Bjiorn Waldegaard with strong highlight, he was a friend of Rallylegend, where he had been twice. For this reason some of his cars will be displayed in the Rally Village, the ones the Swedish champion rallied with in his incredible carreer; among them there will be the wonderful Porsche 911 in Martini Racing livery and in 1978 Safari rally setting.
THE 2nd ANTIGUA LEGEND CUP 2014
It is a very inviting prize, the one that will be awarded to the quickest driver of Rallylegend, regardless of the car driven, and so it is open to all the participating crews. Its motto is “Go as quick as the wind and win a dream holiday”, the Organisation will give a dream holiday for ten days at Chistmas time in the Caribbeans for two people. It will be the 2nd Antigua Legend Cup which gets the idea from the sailing races and has a system of points allocation with co-efficient that will establish the quickest Rallylegend driver, regardless of the car driven. Last year the winner was the driver from San Marino Giuliano Calzolari.
