In a nut shell the R4 car is a new initiative launched by the FIA this year to develop the current Group N car to become more competitive with the existing Super 2000 cars. The R4 Subaru is 80kg lighter with some lighter body panels, fabricated sub frames and suspension arms for extra strength and better geometry as well as longer suspension travel.
The car is being built and run by our current team, Symtech Racing, who are currently very busy building a brand new car from scratch in time for testing next weekend in Wales. It is an exciting project to be involved with, helping both Subaru and STI develop the car for the future. It will of course give is a good chance to get a feeling for the car as we look at our options for 2012 and see how we compare against the existing Group N and Super 2000 cars.
As we will be in another car we will be ineligible to score PWRC points but we will try and target a top 10 overall finish which of course will be no easy task.
Next week we will be in Belgium to see the progress of the car. We will then post photos of our new car at www.facebook.com/haydenpaddonwrc
