"Legends of Speed" in Dresden, Germany

“Legends of Speed” is a historic rally event in Germany. The central place of the rally is the city of Dresden, actual and ancient capital of Saxony. The rally will run in the Erzgebirge and Lausitz mountains near the borders to Czech Republic and Poland. “Legends of Speed” will try to combine challenging stages with an interesting track through a very nice landscape.

This will be the only historic rally in Germany specially organized for historic rally cars according to FIA App. K. Additionally, cars of national German historic groups CTC, CGT and H are allowed to take part. After the sporting rally, the teams of a historic regularity event will run on the same stages.

“Legends of Speed” intends to reanimate the spirit of traditional rally events just like "Sanremo Storico" or "Legends Boucles de Spa".

You will find the rally HQ in Dresden at Zeitenströmung, a small industrial area with a lot of shops und manufacturers, specialised in selling and repairing historic cars.

Thursday, 18 May, document check, scrutineering, shakedown, and a come-together-party in the evening will take place there. In the afternoon, the ceremonial start of “Legends of Speed” will be held in the centre of Dresden, with the famous church Semper Opera and the Zwinger Palace around the start ramp.

Friday, 20 May, the first leg of “Legends of Speed” will run. There are two stages on twisty roads between the start at Dresden and the first short break at Freiberg. Two stages more – including the spectacular Grünhain circuit - are to be run approaching the Sachsenring, the most traditional place of Saxonian motor sports and home of German motocycle Grand Prix. “Legends of Speed” will drive a circuit special stage on Sachsenring. Afterwards, the rally returns to Dresden after four night stages in the Erzgebirge Mountains.

On Saturday, 21 May, the second leg turns to eastern direction, along the Czech and the Polish borders. The cars pass the Zittau and the Upper Lausitz mountains competing four special stages. The famous hill climb Lückendorf and a circuit stage in Görlitz will attract many spectators. After lunch and regrouping on the historic Post Place at Görlitz, the same four stages are to be driven in the afternoon. The finish will be at rally HQ Zeitenströmung in Dresden where the after-rally-party and prize-giving ceremony will begin at 21.00.

Legends of Speed is a three-day-event. The total distance is 600 kms including 17 tarmac stages of 125 kms.
