Today the Russian driver Evgeny Novikov starts in WRC-2011 - Rally Mexico will be the first round for the Russian.
Yesterday the driver finished the reconnaissance and shared with his impressions:
Evgeny Novikov: "The road is difficult, but interesting. In some places the special stages remind me of the roads of Portugal, somewhere they are similar to Sardinia and Greece and somewhere - even to Cyprus. It was today when we were writing pacenotes of a narrow, curved, stony SS. Some parts of the road seem to be easy to drive, other - difficult. The recce-car was damaged - two tyres were punctured but lucky we were - not far from the Service Park. I can tell that the special stages are interesting. I can't predict if this rally will be difficult or not - in the WRC there are no easy roads but it seems to me not so much difficult as, for example, Rally Cyprus. Everything is here: jumps, stony narrow and mountainous parts".
As usual after the reconnaissance the co-driver will check the pacenotes. Meanwhile the driver will have time to talk with the press, give an interview and for the first time to see the car which he will drive during the rally - Ford Fiesta RS WRC
Evgeny Novikov: "Today I saw my car for the first time. It looks very brightly. With our engineer we made settings of the steering column and set seats. I'm waiting for tomorrow to drive first kilometers".
Today at local 8 a.m. (17 p.m. in Moscow) starts Shakedown - an official testing stage where the crews will have last opportunity to test their cars before the rally.
